Count complete bays
Divide the run length by the effective bay width and round up. A single straight run normally needs one more post than panels. Existing usable posts, corners and gates change that count.
Avoid a misleading panel-only quote
Ask whether gravel boards, post concrete, fixings and removal of the old fence are included. Check how stepped ground, restricted access and tall vegetation will be handled before agreeing a price.
Measure before ordering
Confirm boundary ownership and the fence line independently. This tool calculates materials and costs; it does not establish a legal boundary or whether a fence is permitted.
Common questions
Why is the last panel rounded up?
You need a complete panel to cut down for a partial bay. Supplier dimensions and post positions should determine the final order.
