Volume is only the first check
One cubic yard equals approximately 0.7646 cubic metres. The calculator rounds the number of skips upwards. It assumes your waste is measured loose, so do not use the solid volume of soil before excavation without considering expansion.
Ask about weight and waste type
Dense rubble or soil can reach a weight limit well before a large skip is full. Tell the supplier what will go in it and follow their fill-line and prohibited-material rules. Hazardous materials need separate handling.
Access and placement
Confirm the delivery vehicle can reach the proposed space, that the ground can support it, and whether a permit or parking suspension is needed. Do not assume the hire company’s headline price includes these items.
Common questions
Will all waste types fit this estimate?
No. Capacity is geometric only. Ask the supplier to confirm weight restrictions and permitted contents.
