Window and gutter cleaning costs: compare visits and scope

Dated provider prices, annual visit calculations and a checklist for comparing cleaning quotations.

Sources & calculation reviewedReviewed 8 Oct 2026

Use advertised prices as examples, not national averages

Two local suppliers illustrate why the service description matters. These published prices were checked on 8 October 2026. They are individual offers in their service areas, not a representative UK survey. Confirm eligibility, access, VAT and the current payable price directly.

Do not use the examples to infer a Cornwall price or apply a regional percentage uplift. Ask providers who actually cover your address to quote the same work.

Window cleaning: a Camberley provider example

Abacus advertises £27 per visit for a three-bedroom house on a four-weekly schedule, £28 at six-weekly intervals and £29 at eight-weekly intervals. Extra features can change the quote. These observations show that a less frequent visit can have a higher individual price.

Every four weeks£27£351 (13 visits)
Every six weeks£28£242.67 (52 ÷ 6 visits)

Annual budgeting is different from the invoice count

The annual figures above use a 52-week planning year. A fraction of a visit is a budgeting average, not an invoice: the actual number depends on the starting date, the agreement and any missed appointments. A calendar-monthly service usually schedules 12 visits, while every four weeks is about 13.

For an independent illustration at £20 per visit, 12 visits cost £240 and 13 cost £260. Enter the actual number you intend to pay for in the calculator. If a first clean costs more, add only the extra charge once instead of using that higher rate for every visit.

Gutter clearance: a Southampton provider example

Clear Vision lists £110 for gutter clearance at a three-to-four-bedroom semi-detached home, increasing to £130 with a conservatory or extension. This is a provider-specific scope example. Confirm whether downpipe work, access equipment or any repairs are included.

Gutter clearance removes material from inside the channel. Washing external gutters, fascias and soffits is a different scope and can have a separate price. A low clearance quote should not be treated as a promise to repair leaks or clean the entire roofline.

Send the same checklist to every cleaner

A short written specification makes prices more useful than a bedroom count alone.

  • For windows: glass, frames, sills, doors, interiors and roof glazing.
  • For gutters: lengths, height, access, clearance and downpipe checks.
  • State whether there is an extension or conservatory.
  • Ask about first-clean charges and minimum call-out fees.
  • Confirm VAT, payment timing, missed visits and cancellation.
  • For a one-off job, ask what completion evidence will be provided.

Compare a year of service, then check the agreement

Keep regular window cleaning and occasional gutter work on separate budget lines. An annual total can look cheaper simply because fewer tasks or visits are included. Keep the quoted frequency, work description and first-visit charge together.

Neither the calculator nor these supplier examples determine how frequently your property needs work. Choose a schedule with the provider based on the property and the service you want. Avoid paying for a recurring plan until the appointment and cancellation terms are clear.

Common questions

Is monthly the same as every four weeks?

No. Calendar-monthly normally means 12 planned visits; a four-weekly schedule averages about 13 in a 52-week year.

Are the quoted prices available everywhere in the UK?

No. They are attributed examples from specific suppliers. Confirm service coverage and obtain a quotation for your property.

Does gutter cleaning include repairs?

Do not assume so. Ask the provider to separate clearance, external washing, downpipe work and repairs in the quotation.
